Vijay, also known as Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar, is a popular actor in the Tamil film industry. He was born on June 22, 1974, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Vijay's parents are S. A. Chandrasekhar, a renowned film director, and Shoba Chandrasekhar, a playback singer. He has a sister named Vidhya Chandrasekhar. Vijay started his acting career in 1992 with the film "Naalaya Theerpu," directed by his father. However, it was his role in the 1996 film "Poove Unakkaga" that catapulted him to stardom. Since then, he has acted in numerous successful films, including "Ghilli," "Thuppakki," "Kaththi," "Mersal," and "Master." He has also won several awards for his performances, including six Vijay Awards and one Tamil Nadu State Film Award. Apart from acting, Vijay is also involved in philanthropic activities. He has established the Vijay Makkal Iyakkam, a non-profit organization that aims to support the underprivileged and promote social welfare. The organization has undertaken various initiatives, including providing relief aid during natural calamities, supporting the education of children from low-income families, and providing healthcare assistance to the needy. Vijay is married to Sangeetha Sornalingam, and the couple has two children, a son named Jason Sanjay and a daughter named Divya Saasha.
