Suresh Gopi is a popular Indian actor who predominantly works in the Malayalam film industry. He has also acted in a few Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi films. He was born on June 26, 1959, in Kollam, Kerala, India. Suresh Gopi began his acting career in 1986 with the Malayalam film "T. P. Balagopalan M.A." directed by Sathyan Anthikad. However, he gained popularity with the 1990 film "Kaliyattam" directed by Jayaraj, for which he won the National Film Award for Best Actor. Some of his notable Malayalam films include "Commissioner," "Ekalavyan," "Nirnayam," "Bharatham," "Pathram," "Lelam," and "Thenkashipattanam." He has also acted in Tamil films like "The Terrorist," "Nandha," and "Thirumalai," and Telugu films like "Police Bullet" and "Sankranthi." Suresh Gopi has won several awards for his performances in films, including five Kerala State Film Awards, two National Film Awards, and a Filmfare Award. He has also been honored with the prestigious Padma Shri award by the Government of India in 2021 for his contribution to the arts. Apart from his acting career, Suresh Gopi has also been involved in politics. He was a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament, from 2016 to 2022.
